Misconceptions and your ADDICTION

One of the most common misconceptions about smoking is that “I’m just addicted to Nicotine”… BIG MISTAKE…

This addiction is like every other addiction… The very definition of “ADDICTION” – compulsive need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; broadly : persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be harmful.

If this was not a cigarette, and was instead alcohol or heroin or cocaine… WOULD YOU BEHAVE THE SAME WAY? WOULD YOU TREAT IT LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL? I hear people say all the time, “It’s just a smoke” and your right it is… so what its not doing is messing up your daily routines, or affecting your daily behaviors… but really it is…

We revolve around our smokes… around our breaks and our ability to go smoke.. if we leave the house with no smokes and no money we HAVE TO RUN HOME… (if we have money we don’t feel so panicked as we have the ability to get more). We run from our problems to “calm down” when in fact your increasing your heart rate, increasing your breathing, speeding up your metabolism and much more…

SO I ASK YOU TO LOOK AT YOUR ADDICTION FOR WHAT IT IS!! An addiction… so if this was cocaine… would you still make the same excuses and would those excuses have enough weight to “allow yourself” to “crack”? I have yet to have ANYONE answer yes to this question…

You now have a better understanding of your addiction and Fresh Start can help you QUIT!! No matter what your addiction is!!
